The Dentons Data in Conversation podcast is back with new episodes for our listeners!

Data remains one of the biggest commodities in today’s world market and the legal landscape is modernizing the way it is accessed and shared. Over the past few years, Canada has been moving to improve the protection of privacy information. In the first of many segments, we will cover the policy and business implications as Canadian businesses face compliance challenges to stay ahead of these projected changes.

First, we cover Québec’s Bill 64 an Act to Modernize Legislative Provisions Respecting the Protection of Personal Information. Bill 64 is the first of many expected legislative changes to Canada’s private sector privacy regime. Along with the modernization of Canada’s federal PIPEDA, certain provincial statutes, and possibility a new statute in Ontario, organizations will face compliance changes in 2021 and 2022.

In Episode 11 – Bill 64: The good, the bad and the ugly, our host Kelly Osaka discusses the political, policy and business implications of Bill 64, with guests, the Honorable Philippe Couillard, Chantal Bernier and Kirsten Thompson.
